Our givens, or our traits...

This section is about our givens, our genetic inheritance, and the traits we are all born with.

Here's a good introduction to Genetics from Gene Screen BC 2011. This packed video called "18 Things You Should Know About Genetics" gives quite a few interesting facts in just under three and a half minutes:

We are all the same, but we humans have so much diversity. Spencer Wells on TED shows us how scientists explain this using DNA. He also discusses our common African ancestry through Mitochondrial Eve - the first woman. More information can be had from the Genographic Project.

Brian Sykes, a top geneticist, talks on MSNBC Cable TV about our common genetic pool. In this interesting interview he essentially tells any one of us that we have genes from almost every other culture:

If you have an article, video or image to contribute to this section, please get in contact. Remember, we are non-religious, nonpartisan and support no-one, except those who aim to bring truth to everyone, so we can't accept anything with a bias. Real life examples are most welcome.

We also we need information backed up by science. You don't have to do the science yourself, so long as what you say has links to research, or sites that contain the proof we need. Sometimes science cannot comment on, explain or quantify the topic you have information for. We need that type of article, video etc too.
