Home, Sweet Home…
This section is about our home, Planet Earth, and thus our environment in its greater sense.
We humans are having a profound impact on our planet, mostly of the negative kind. Some of us assume that we are having little if any influence on our world, or if we do, then it is only temporary. Others are more concerned for their own perceived welfare, and thus do not see the bigger picture. All these views are mistaken.
Then also, science is only just beginning to become aware of just how much events exterior to the Earth itself in the universe affect us all. Articles and videos on this aspect will be found here too as time allows.
Planet Earth is our home, and shared responsibility. That single word “home” explains why the film “Home” is here on this site. To quote from Yann Arthus-Bertrand, the director:
“We are living in exceptional times. Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth’s climate.

This video below is a thought provoking reminder of just how insignificant we are on this tiny jewel of a planet. For me, it is a reminder of how important it is that we try to get along together and protect this beautiful place we all share and live in. This video reminds us that this planet is small, finite and fragile.
I just love the beauty of the night sky when seen from a decent location. Unfortunately light pollution is a real problem today, and prevents many of us from seeing nature in all its glory. City Dwellers often miss out on this wonderful show that is there for everyone.
It is interesting to note how difficult it is to actually get shots like these that maybe 300 years ago would have been visible in a good chunk of the planet, but is now restricted almost entirely to where human beings do not exist.
